Elopement in Big Sur.
Wedding Elopement Photography and Three of my favorite spots for Elopements in Monterey County.
What Is Eloping? Eloping is a marriage conducted without the knowledge of the couple's family and friends, particularly their parents. Typically, those who elope only have a ceremony and do not host a reception or celebration….(google’s definition)
OR….you just want an intimate wedding with just your partner and maybe a few close family members or friends.
Some people love big weddings with 300 guests, and there are others who want a small wedding with their most meaningful people, or just the 2 of them. There is no right or wrong. There is only how YOU desire to spend this important day of your life.
Misconception of an elopement: it’s only the couple, a wedding photographer isn’t necessary, there is no officiant, it only takes place for 30 minutes, it only takes place in one location.
True facts of an elopement: the couple can invite family and friends even when they elope, a wedding photographer is a MUST, most of the time there is an officiant, an elopement can be as long as a wedding in duration and it can take place in several locations.
The direct drive from Carmel to Big Sur is 25.5 mi (41 km), and should have a drive time of 41 mins in normal traffic.
There is a reason why several movies and a ton of elopements, wedding photography and engagement sessions take place in Big Sur. The reason is its breathtaking scenery. The mountain ends up at the rough Californian coastal waters and the beautiful Bixby Creek Bridge.
The direct drive from Carmel to Garrapata state park is 8.6 mi , and should have a drive time of 16 mins in normal traffic.
Garrapata State Park has two miles of beach front, with coastal hiking and a 50-foot climb to a beautiful view of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, a federal marine protected area. The park offers diverse coastal vegetation with trails running from ocean beaches into dense redwood groves. The park also features outstanding coastal headlands at Soberanes Point. Sea lions, harbor seals and sea otters frequent the coastal waters and California gray whales pass close by during their yearly migration.
Next door to Carmel we will find the Lover’s point in Monterey. Couple’s love to have their photos taken there not only for the beautiful scenery but also for the significant name of the location.
